XBOX SERIES S: Design of the consoles and the controller - toponlinessells

I have two consoles with me, the Xbox S Series and the Xbox Series X.

So, since we're going to have a lot of things to say, I think we'll do some unboxing first.

We will also talk about the design of the consoles, the design of the controller as well.

I'm also going to show you the process of installing the consoles and you'll see that the guys over at Xbox, they've prepared a super cool thing for us.

Then in a future article, we will do a comparative test between Series X, Series S and One X.

Okay with you?

Either way, you don't have much of a choice. It's me who decides.

And since I love the S Series, I'll just unbox it first.

Here therefore, they announced the color you have:

  • 120 fps.
  • Velocity Architecture,
  • 512 gigabytes SSD, HDR,
  • the refresh rate variable from which we
  • will speak in a future article
  • and the absence of a Blu-ray player

So, quite honestly, I expected it to be bigger, well yes, it is very compact.

I find her super pretty. What impresses immediately is the sobriety, the discretion of the design.

So yes, there is an air vent that is visible.

But personally, I find it rather pretty.

And you notice that ventilation grids, there are also everywhere, And that, quite simply, We know it, it is to ventilate the interior of the console.

Now, let's take a look at the connections:

  • We have a USB port.
  • We have the button to connect the controller.
  • The power button.
  • the location for SSD memory expansions.
  • The HDMI output, two USB ports and here,
  • the socket for the Ethernet cable for a smooth connection.

Then, and that's what I find interesting with this S Series format, is:

"Why was the BluRay player removed?

And why did we leave "only" 512 GB of SSD memory, So 512 giga minus the OS is 364 giga effective for storing games?

But you see that for the use that I have of it, it is more than enough and I still managed to download a lot of games, knowing that well, with a few rare exceptions, the games rarely exceed 50 gigas and that in addition, as it is native 2K and not native 4K like on the X series, Xbox themselves announced that the Series S games would weigh on average 30% less than on Series X.

We can add to this that you've seen the console has a slot for memory expansions that are compatible with the Velocity Architecture, and even if you don't feel like buying those memory expansions, you have the possibility anyway if your Internet connection is not fast enough to allow you to re-download games.

You have the option to store games that you have played before on an external hard drive.

All you have to do is transfer these games from your external hard drive to your console to be able to start them again.

And it still seems essential to me to remind you that it is of the cheapest new generation console on the market.

Beyond the fact that it makes the console more affordable, it also makes it more compact, lighter and therefore easier to transport. This was actually a request from some gamers who just wanted to be able to take their console wherever they wanted.

I think Xbox controllers are really the best on the market.

They are the most pleasant to hold in the hand.

We kept the asymmetrical joysticks which I personally love because I find it much more practical, I have the impression that the Xbox Series controller is thinner, there is also the fact that the design, I find it less loaded.

I will simply remind you that these Xbox One controllers are compatible with the Xbox Series, and that to connect them it is very simple you turn them on you press the middle button until the Nexus flashes quickly, Then you press the sync button on the console, and the controller connects automatically.

Also note that these Xbox Series controllers are backward compatible and work on the Xbox One.
